Brisbane Run – Grandchester – 20th November 2022
Frank Jacobson is organising a special November that revisits his earlier quest many years ago to rediscover the entrance to the underground hanger that formed part of the wartime airbase at Mt Tarampa.
Meet in the carpark opposite the main entrance to the Botanic Gardens at the base of Mt Coo-tha at 9.15 for 9.30 departure. Travel via Moggill Road, Kenmore and Mount Crosby Road to the Warrego Highway. Turn along the Brisbane Valley Highway to Fernvale for our morning coffee stop.
Leave Fernvale and travel through Lowood to Mount Tarampa and our history lesson. From Mount Tarampa head toward Coominya but turn off past Atkinson Dam to the Esk Gatton Road, turn south and cross the Warrego Highway, through Forrest Hill and Laidley after which tern East to Grantchester for lunch.
Members residing to the West of Brisbane may choose to join the drive at the morning coffee stop at Fernvale.
